The place reminds me of both Ähtäri Zoo and Ranua Zoo in Finland. The animal species shown in the Tier-Freigelände live or have lived in the area of the Bavarian Forest. E.g. the elks have been imported from Sweden as there are almost none left...More

I was hoping to have an experience more like the US national parks. We went expecting to find a decent 2-3 hour hike, I'm sure there are nice trails but we found no centralized form of information to help with that. Ended up walking this...More

We enjoyed the 2.5hour guided walk to see the animals. Much better then walking alone. The tours are guided by volunteers, who are really very knowledgeable about the forest and the animals. So much background information is given and the guides know where to find...More

It was great, the walk through the forest, the search for the animals and we were soooooo lucky. We found the wolfs, the bears, the lynx, the elks, saw a lot of birds and had a great day.

We were grateful for the tree-covered paths round the nature park, as we were there on a very hot day. Unfortunately, most of the larger animals were also suffering from the heat and were hard to spot. We did see some deer, black storks, beavers,...More

This area is found just below the Baumwipfelpfad and therefore it is absolutely logical to go for a stroll here either before or after braving the tree top walk. We were there during winter and the snow was covering everything which was beautiful but also...More

It's not a zoo. There are animals in their natural habitat - lyxs, wolves, owls, mooses...It was nice forest walk and we really enjoyed it, even if we didn't see many animals. It was very hot weather and most of the animals were in their...More

We, two old and one very young liked it very much, because of the way, how is it made. Mostly, we took the path with the animals, where they have a very great free range. Sometimes, unfortunately for the people, it is not possible to...More

This is a protected area bordering the Bavaria with Czech Republic featuring lush and wild forest of beech, fir and larch. It's very nice walk in the park following the marked trails. For kids and toddlers there are playgrounds in the Visitors Centres scattered around...More
