Wonderful place to visit! Well structured and located in a lovely small beach town. The clothes at the store are of great quality, and the restaurant inside the project is very good too. Worth the visit!

Tamar is a Brazilian environmental protection project which is already 37 years old and protects sea turtles. It is totally worth a visit! Try the guided tour with explanations. You can see turtles, sharks and other animals and learn about their reproduction and conservation.

It seems that Praia do Forte is like a high-end tourist trap until you get to see this Projeto Tamar. It is rare that a place to breed turtles is available to people. So it really is cool to see it.

I know they are trying help turtles here but seeing them swimmong around in pools see,s wrong. Hopefully they don't keep them too long. You can see turtles swimming up and down the coast here on a flooding tide!

Plan a short visit, the place is not very large but quite interesting. Try to be there before 4p, so that you can see the feeding of turtles and sharks.

Especially for kids the turtles are really amazing to see. There are not much places in the world where you can see huge turtles swimming!
