A good place to find rustic spots to do a photoshoot In the morning or the evening. There is a spot near the dock yard to click some good pictures, and as u enter the fort on the top u have a decently good view, and importantly avoid traveling alone here, always come, with some one along.

Its ironical that its called a fort. Not at all maintained by the government authorities. If restored, it can well get a decent visit by visitors. But as for now, this place is best avoided.

Absolute in ruins. Not much is left of the fort. There were children playing cricket inside the fort. Looks like a scary place to go during late evenings. Further ahead to the fort is an old church again in ruins. However there was some photo shooting being done for some local gym. The road is narrow but can be accessed... More

It is sad that the heritage structures are not maintained well, especially in our country... The Bassein fort though seems to be royal, ironically isnt, it is used by most of the Bassein ladies as a public toilet...can you believe it??

I'm a Vasai local and have visited this fort several times and each time I discovered some new interesting facts and stories about this place. This fort was neglected by officials for a long time but from past few years ASI is putting a lot of efforts to restore and preserve history of Portuguese and Maratha era.
