Mida Creek has an amazing boardwalk, snaking for 100s of metres through the tidal mangrove forest and ending up at a covered platform overlooking mudflats and estuary. For a small fee you can walk along, taking a guide if you wish, and enjoy the incredible site of thousands and thousands of shorebirds flocking around you as the tide advances. It's... More

Totally loved the sunset. Short distance from Turtle Bay. Beautiful scenery of the mangrove and awesome sunset views.

It's a natural tidal creek fringed with mangroves - a great site for birding, sailing in local dhows with the 'gondolier' through the maze of channels especially at sunset. It's a nursery for turtles and fish and then a stop at Crabshack for a meal amidst the mangroves.

The setting is beautiful, the creek itself peaceful but the only bar/resto overlooking it is rather cramped and the service soso. The beer was lukewarm. The first thing you get when you arrive is a rather brutal way of asking you an entrance fee to get to the creek or the bar.

My wife and I booked a dhow trip on Mida Creek with Stefano (who runs Mawe Resort in Watamu). This is a wonderfully romantic thing to do!! We were treated to a wonderful day out on the water, very well looked after, given a perfect lunch for our (special) diet, snacks, drinks - and just a wonderful atmosphere. The crew... More

A nice and peaceful ride to the natives home area(island) in a canoe and thereafter a beautiful view of the sunset.

Amazing place set on stilts above the mangrove swamp, accessed via boardwalk. Fantastic for a sunset dinner with delicious food particularly the sensational crab samosas, the fried coconut and the oysters plus the fried calamari and fried prawns, washed down with a cold Tucker beer! Wonderful!

We were lucky to have a dhow sail boat rented for us for our wedding gift and we were absolutely surprised by how good the experience is. The dhow served amazing food (too much food as we were stuffed after the appetizer), tasty drinks and all served from incredibly friendly staff.

To see animals (birds, crabs, etc.) it is best to visit at low tide. Also only at low tide you can see the mangrove roots out of water. You can ask your hotel to call in advance to find out the best time to visit. Don't ever buy any tours from the beach boys active near the Watamu marine park... More
