Be prepared for a bit of a hike. There aren't really english warning signs, but be warned, it's like a 3 hour hike. I saw some girls doing it in platform heels. They looked like they hated their lives. Don't be those girls. It's a really...More

You can trek up Mount Song if you are very fit, otherwise you can get to top via cable at a cost of ¥100 per trip. The view up the top is not that fantastic. Not worth sending the money to get to the top...More

There are many paths and stairs to hike up this wonderful mountain as well as 2 cable cars (50-80RMB) to get to the top. After visiting Shaolin, you can hike up to the Dharma Cave or one of the other peaks. Very nice day out.

Mt. Song was a great place to visit. I was able to visit during a trip to Shaolin Temple in August 2016. I highly recommend it.

It would take a couple of hours to get down from the cable car dropoff. From the cable point you can hike to Sanhuangzai. Dharma cave is one of the peak at Mt.Song.

Hi. My wife and I hope to climb the five great mountains in China. Last week we climbed Taishan in Shandong. I'm 62 and it took us almost 5 hours, which I heard is about average. Song shan is also on our list to cliimb. Here are a few questions I have about Song Shan and I would be obliged to anyone who could give me further information. Thanks in advance for your help! 1. Approximately how long does it take to climb Song shan? Mattodowd in his review said it took him 4 hours. 2. What is the change in elevation of the climb? 3. What city or town is close to the starting point for the climb up Song shan? Luoyang? 4. Mattodowd in his review mentions there is a cable car from the top back to the bottom that costs 80 yuan. When does it stop running? 5. The admission ticket to climb Song shan is 100 RMB? Thank you for your information!
