I have been to the Huerto del Cura a few times over the years and as nice as it was, it wasn't particularly impressive. However things has certainly been improved prior to my recent visit last week. Paths were clean and tidy, and the planting displays and plant quality were so much better than they were before. Huge amounts of... More

I have gait/walking challenges (stroke), all sightseeing has to be well-researched and not overly taxing; I wear a legbrace. Elche's Palmeral is awesome; escape to the blissfully cool shade of more than 200,000 palm trees - it is the largest, only, palm grove in Europe. Palmeral is a generic name used to designate date-palm forest in Elche, there are different... More

I had a laugh at the criticism by another Trip Advisor visitor that this was OK if you like palm trees.True - but the point of it is really the history of the palm plantation which goes back to Arab Spain. It has several sections worth visiting. I saw a lot of it from the little tourist train as well... More

The Palmeral is truly astonishing -- 200,000+ palm trees -- and El Huerto del Cura is its premier garden. Worth the tiny charge for entrance.

A massive area of palm trees. A lot of different kinds of trees and plants everywhere. Really big place, and u might get a little lost too wondering around. You should visit this place if you want to see all kinds of plants and feel like your not in the city.

The palm groves are interesting to walk through but don't expect even pathways. There are many trees so you are sheltered from the hot sun. In the centre there is a large dovecote where you can feed the birds. There are free exercise machines to try. You can buy food and drinks in the glass structured restaurant. As you exit... More

This is the reason for visiting Elche - a park which goes round the city, free to enter, magical for strolling in, amazing trees, good explanatory writings, splendid children's playgrounds, terrific dove-cote - we loved it

We wandered through park mid morning in September. The temperature was pleasant to walk in . The palms are amazing & the park is well maintained we watched the maintenance of the trees & the brave council men undertaking the climb (rather them than me)! The park is respected as there is no litter & people instantly pick up dog... More

Elche is famous for its Palm trees , so this was just an extension to the rest of the area. Could be made more spectacular with water features .
