Right in the heart of town, this statue commemorates the 1952 movie The Quiet Man. It's right across from the Tourist Center and near the ruins of the abbey. It's a good place to start your visit to Cong.

While in Cong we of course came across the statue of these two fine actors.
Had never heard of the film The Quiet Man made in the early fifties but it sure has put this little town on the map .
Quite a few places seem to carry the Quiet Man name .
A nice town to visit

The statue is on the Main Street of Cong and worth a walk over. The town prides itself on the making of The Quiet Man movie in Cong so definitely get a photo by the statue.

If you have any memory of The Quiet Man, John Wayne or Maureen O’Hara, you will want to swing by and visit this site. The statue brings back these memories, and it’s so realistic, you feel like you are standing near them. Standing next to the statue is only part of the experience of visiting the beautiful Village of Cong. It is worth making to trip over to Cong to relax and enjoy Cong and experience the statue.

This statue of John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara is a lovely tribute to the setting of where the quiet man film was made. It was lovely to see on our visit to Cong, and of course it was full of couples posing in the same way as the statue! Worth a visit on your trip.

Can you get tours to here from Galway? Do you have a name of a tour company or private guides? How hard would it be to rent a car and drive ourselves>
