We enjoyed our short visit to Ourem castle. It was very scenic and the views were terrific. Not a lot to do here, but glad we visited it.

The castle is a huge construction, with many different areas to visit which offer you great views from the city and areas around it. The medieval city under it is very well restored and amazing.

Visit the cemetery next door... it’s view to die for! Seriously if you have to be buried anywhere this is idyllic - at least people will get pleasure when they visit you

This is a ruin. It is large and easy to walk around. Need imagination to recreate the way it used to be. Very windy when we visited and likely to be windy most days.

We were staying at The Pousada below the castle so it was only a 10 minute walk. Worth the effort for the views alone but the ruined castle was an interesting diversion

Very close to Fátima sanctuary, close to Tomar, Ourem and Leiria. It's a nice place to visit or stay. For the locals it's the place to relax with friends having a ginger licor. Check out the landscape and the atmosphere...

I found Ourem on Tripadvisor and asked our friends who live in Portugal if we could go there. We drove up the hill and parked near the church. We wandered around and up to the castle. It was fabulous. I just wish we could have...More

On our road trip we stoped on the ancient village of Ourém to see this castle. From the start we know that you cannot access the inside of it, so nothing more to do besides see it from outside wich is average. On the location...More

Essentially the castle is uninhabitable and the hardest part would be the drive up to the top of the mountain subject to weather conditions. The working village would be open all year but expect a lot of visitors during... More
