Starting from the Antiquarium Museum, near which you can visit the Romanesque church of St. Mary Magdalene with it’s famous Gothic tower, you embark on the waters of the lake, crossing the so-called “Zoca de l’oli” to reach the Comacina Island.

Very enjoyable walk round the island. Lovely spot for a picnic, and there are clean free loos. The cafe is massively overpriced.

We stayed on the island for a cocktail, after reaching it by boat. It was pleasant and relaxing, rather unusual setting. Make sure you go there on a sunny day for best experience. Island offers bars and restaurants, all of them picturesque.

If you do nothing else while you are in the Lake Como region, have lunch at Isola Comacina. The view of the lake and surrounding area is spectacular and the food was delicious with an entertaining presentation.

We were hear because of lunch. We got to walk around the island. It's small and beautiful but I wouldn't make the trip just for the walking.

Nice peaceful spot. Roman ruins and a church at the top of the hill. Confident swimmers can swim here from Lido Ossuccio - boat drivers are vigilant.

Isola Comacina is amazingly peaceful and solitary place. I was lucky to get there alone, without a crowd of tourists. During my walk around the island I didn't meet anyone but ducks) fortunately I took bread with me to feed them. There are also picnic...More

We had visited the island during the day and came back for the dinner celebration in the evening. The food was excellent (make sure you are hungry) but you cannot fault fresh basic ingredients. The service and the history you get when there is exceptional...More

Many, many people enjoy a fantastic 3+ hour lunch or dinner on the island, and it IS something to write home about, but there is more on this tiny island that many ever know. There is a beautiful little church and sunlit fields and ancient...More

This stop was included in our small group boat tour from Mennaggio. Would not classify this as a must-see, but if you are in the vicinity for a few days, it's a nice way to see some more of the area. Don't need to stay...More

I am renting a boat in Bellagio and touring the lake all day. Is it possible to dock my privately rented boat at Isola Comacino while we have lunch there? If so, is there a fee?

not sure and don't know who you would contact about that. recommend asking the rental company.
We are in Belaggio and want to go to Isola Comacino for lunch. A private taxi quoted us 410 euros round trip for six people. Not doable. Any suggestions about public transportation?

You DO NOT have to do the private boat taxi...you can go to the little town of Ossuccio, to the Antiquarium, across from Isola Comacina and buy a ticket on the Barchetta for about 6 Euro pp. It will take you directly over to... More
