About
One of the island's most wild beaches. There is plenty of wilderness to explore complemented by breathtaking views. There are parking areas but they get full during the high season (summer) so make sure to get there early. Anytime before 9 am should be good.

Lovely beach. Been coming here since a child, always visit El Faro, then to La playuela. That is the real name. Its not playa sucia. Its actually Bahia sucia. La playuela is confused by many as playa sucia, but its not.

Playa Sucia means Dirty Beach
Aug 2021 • Couples
Smell is terrible and you leave there smelling like the dumpster of a seafood restaurant. The view is nice, but there are many other “nice views” to see. They named it playa sucia for a reason. Translates to Dirty Beach. It’s nasty don’t go.

Bring dog food and fresh water for the stray dogs
Aug 2021 • Couples
The drive was long and bumpy. Lots of fun birds and other wildlife to observe. There is a small pack of young, stray dogs by the parking lot at La Playuela who NEED HELP. Everyone there was leaving scraps for them, anything. Granola bars, chips, etc. They are starving and overheated. They are nice and drank lots of water right from my water bottles. Tourists and locals alike were broken-hearted in seeing this.

The beauty of the beach is tarnished by the lack of caring for the animals in Puerto Rico. How can you go into nature to enjoy the wonder of wildlife, yet ignore the animals that are dying and starving right in front of your eyes? The government needs to push for spaying and neutering programs and pass laws to punish animal abuse and abandonment.

PLEASE, if you are visiting in the area, bring dog food and lots of fresh water for the dogs. And if you know someone in rescue, please reach out to them to see about trapping them and getting them to a safe location and into loving homes. There are programs that will help relocate them to the mainland as well.

Local beach, fun lively place
Aug 2021 • Family
We enjoyed an afternoon here. Great lively, fun beach full way from the tourist traps. They had live music multiple food and drink stands. But played. To bring your own chairs and cooler.

No chair service but they have banana boat rentals

Pretty & isolated beach, takes some work to get there
Jun 2021
Road to parking lot for Playa Sucia was bumpy; just take it slowly. On the way in, you will pass the salt flats which look pretty cool but are smelly. It's still worth the stop to see the pink salt pools. From the parking lot of the beach to the actual beach is a short walk. We arrived about 10:45 am and there were parking spots left. There are no bathrooms, changing rooms, or places to find snacks or drinks. However, the view is worth the hassle. Just bring a chair and a cooler. A row of seaweed divides the sand from the water. When we were there today, the water to the right-hand side was filled with seaweed and the water was rough. If you walk to the left-hand part of the beach, there's less seaweed in the water and the water is gentler. My kids and I preferred that part of the water and beach. On our way out (around 12:30), the parking lot was getting crowded. I'd recommend coming early. All in all, a pretty beach, but I don't feel the need to return. It's a hike from where we were staying in La Parguera.

Disappointed family
May 2021 • Family
Beautiful views but Smells horrible, have to go through hundred of pot holes to get there and water is over taken by seaweed and algae and really couldn’t swim without going through it. Family was very disappointed and other families there complained too! Find another beach to swim.

If your going to have a beach day it’s the best beach. We had the most amazing time. Be sure to bring food and drinks nothing for sale in that area. Also umbrellas are a must!

Heads up for those looking for a "secluded" beach on a weekend, this ain't it. The sand/water was crazy packed, seaweed was popping, and jetskis and bluetooth speakers were blaring. It seems like a fun spot if you're with a big group of friends looking to turn up, but def not the place to bring a book and appreciate nature. lol. So take the "calm", "serene", "secluded" reviews mentioned here with a grain of salt. And speaking of salt, the drive along the dirt road is certainly pungent.

Amazing, BUT...
Apr 2021 • Couples
Amazing trip to this spot. Kind of tough to get into and get parking. Word of warning; if you park somewhere that has the yellow tipped wood poles that’s the same as no parking. Thought I was out of the way and picked an acceptable spot but returned to a $150 ticket. There are also a lot of stray dogs so beware.
