We had a wonderful time with Jose. He is very knowledgeable about birds of the region and he found us great views of many species, including: boat billed heron, bare throated tiger heron, pygmy kingfisher, black-necked stilt, and of course flamingo. It was also great...More

I booked the tour before I arrived, because Jose is busy, you’d better to book it in advance. He won’t let you disappointed, we went to see the flamingos at 5:30 in rancha( a wooden small boat), heard the Blackhawk singing, watching the flamingos flying....More

We took the early morning mangrove tour. Our guide, Angel, did not speak much English but we had no problems understanding him. He had a keen spotting eye and pointed out pygmy kingfishers, tiger herons, and other birds that we might have overlooked. There was...More

While boating through the mangroves (and stopping at a freshwater spring) we saw monkeys, crocodiles and many other water birds. Our boat driver spoke Spanish but was able to communicate well enough that we understood what we were seeing.

If you are only interested in seeing flamingos, the motorized tours will get you to them faster. But those who enjoy nature will find this peaceful and environmentally friendly tour through the mangroves appealing. We showed up more than half an hour before the opening...More

Angel was our guide on this delightful trip. We were able to see many flamingos flying overhead as well and many in the water. Angel did not speak much English, but between that and my minimal spanish we did fine. We saw other types of...More

We went on an early morning tour with Jose, 2 of us in the push-pole canoe, and it was fantastic. There was a wide array of herons and shorebirds in the mangrove channels and then a huge flock of flamingos feeding on the flats on...More

Because this is a small tour in a canoe, the organizers plan it for the best time to see birds. So generally, it's early morning. We went at 6:30 am. If you want to only see the flamingos and aren't interested in the... More
