The 19 steps adorning the monument contain the mortal remains of the 19 Martyrs of Aklan and atop is the effigy of Gen. Francisco Del Castillo, the leader of Katipunan revolutionaries in Aklan.

Not a normal place to visit

Just to passby and pass time while waiting my van to Boracay. Not many people will come here and locals also not coming here

Let's call this shine a beautification effort by the city of Kalibo to dress up an intersection where three roads come together; that'll keep expectations in check. This is not a place that I would go out of the way to see, but it was on my walk from my hotel to the downtown area. The actual shrine is fenced... More

It is a waste of time to go here other than to pay respects to the men who died to help make the Philippines an independent nation.

Even the drivers don't know where it is... We have difficulty locating this place, and once there, nothing to do... Probably a photo-op then go somewhere else..
