A delightful house and garden. We visited during term time and there were relatively few visitors so we were able to enjoy a relaxed and leisurely walk around the lovely country garden.

While holidaying in Lyme Regis we decided to visit Forde Abbey, a former Cistercian monastery. Had a lovely walk around the immaculate gardens and timed it just right for the fountain in the lake to be switched on at midday. Magnificent! Had a very interesting...More

The gardens are quite simply - stunning with the backdrop of Forde Abbey as a bonus. Lots of hidden garden areas to explore, interlaced with sculptures for added interest and water features galore - quite apart from the spectacular water fountain. Lots of seating areas...More

I visited on a Monday so the house wasn't open but I had intended to limit my visit to the gardens this time round. Beautiful autumn day so perfect for wandering around the gardens. The abbey itself is a stunning building and although it is...More

Great day out, interesting gardens, it is worth going all the way up to where the streams enter the property. Fountain very good but only on for short periods at certain times. Very good garden centre which specialises in plants suitable for south west England.More

Thank you for your kind review. I am glad you made it all the way to the Bog Garden it is certainly worth the effort. I am afraid the fountain only comes on at certain times as we would otherwise have a 30 acre bog...More

This impressive building –originally a Cistercian monastery – was well worth the time we spent there. The building is extensive and has a well-researched history which we found very interesting. The gardens – especially those on the side of the long lake were full flowing...More

Thank you for you kind review. We certainly have a long history going back almost 900 years. the gardens this year have flourished with the wet warm summer we have experienced and probably are as good now as they were 3 months ago.

What a spectacular place! The gardens are emacs late and the fountain well worth waiting for. We were lucky to follow the weekend when Toby Buckland had visited, so everything was pristine. Bought some good plants from the excellent nursery.

A wonderful place to visit, follow the pathways or cut across the grass - its up to you. We had a dog and so did not opt for the abbey tour. We still spent the best part of a full day wandering through the grounds...More
