“We always bring visitors here”

A nice spot to bring visitors. We have been here several times always with out-of-town visitors. Early evening (before dark) is always the best time.

Magellan Shrine is in a small park on the north eastern corner of Mactan Island, and marks the spot where he was killed inn 1521 by the local chieftain Lapu Lapu. But Magellan cannot rest in peace here. The park is wired for sound from one end to the other and what should be a quiet and almost reverential spot... More

Been here many times, to see the Shrine, walk around the gardens and to visit the many great stalls selling souvenirs. If you go towards the fish restaurant which is great by the way, there are some more shops.

The Magellan Shrine is just a few meters away from the Lapu-lapu Monument, it's a tower in honor of Magellan.

Nothing spectacular, this shrine sits a few meters from Lapu-Lapu's shrine. A good place to visit once when you are in the area. There are souvenir stall on the periphery where they sell affordable souvenir items.

We visited it during my first tour in Cebu last 2010. It is a good place to see to feel more the history and how the Christianity spread in Philippines Visited 2010

If you want to learn bout the Philippian*s history you simply have to go there! And watch the school-kits and their attention on their smart-phones.

While in there, you will enjoy a high loud music. Magellan shrine is very close to Lapu Lapu statue, few meters only. You can see Magellan Mark also. The port where the war occur as well

This provides a little bit of history along with the Lapu-Lapu statue and the park. The history is brief but you get the idea of what happened here. We came during low tide and it is interesting to see the ocean floor and the number of people picking crabs up off the floor. Would have loved to seen this at... More
