This is a beautiful clear water lake, with a very nice beach where it merges into the ocean. It is actually divided into 3 sub-lakes (upper, middle and lower). A very large lake, no motorboats allowed. Among the top places for windsurfing and kitesurfing, but also suitable for stand up paddle. The water is warmer than the beach close to it.

This lake (lagoa) goes right up to the beach, so you can get the best of both worlds ;-) the beach is great, very clean (good recycling) and even in high season not too crowded and attracting nice people! Altough it was windy, the lake is a great place to the ones that are still learning or want to practice stand up paddle as I did. You can see the birds around, very beautiful.

Easy to rent boards and classes. I recommend Lars at "WIndsurf Zone" just arriving at Barra de Ibiraquera.

My husband and I decided to come to Barra de Ibiraquera for our last vacation before the baby's arrival. It was definitely a great decision. The place is beautiful. the lbiraquera Lake (lagoa de ibiraquera) is beautiful. Clean and calm water. Locals are very friendly and food is good. Beautiful lake, close to a beautiful beach. You can practice kitesurf here all year around !
