Diefenbunker

Took the kids to the Diefenbunker and we all loved it. Kids thought it was so retro. Drive out to Carp was easy, lots of parking. We purchased our tickets ahead of time.

Very interesting way to see how the Cold War was perceived through the eyes of government. You have to make sure to see the TV station and Prime ministers office. The back up vault for the Canadian mint is also a must see.

Lots of stairs, no elevator when we were visiting. This was a pretty neat attraction for us to visit. Although I had to laugh at the Che Guerra stuff that was in the gift shop. It was neat to see how a bunker operates and we were lucky to have a Retired Military member who had worked in the bunker... More

Our Diefenbunker tour was so much fun. I'd do it again right now if I could. Our tour guide was very witty and smart, he could answer any question that was threw his way. It's always fun when you feel like you are exploring, like you are on a little adventure. Well, In this case a big adventure because the... More

Didn't know "The Chief" was here, very cool. T-Shirts are a must have! Army green is recommended or whatever colour you like.

We did the tour on our own and enjoyed it. I found that visiting the building itself was the most interesting part. Some of the exhibits were more interesting than others.

I had high hopes for the bunker. They were dashed and this place has had about $45.60 spent on it in the past 40 years. It's awful. Seriously depressing - in a kind of Cuba looking military bunker sort of way. Save your time and save you money. However - if by chance you actually live in Ottawa, then after... More

This is a part of Canadian history that is rarely discussed. We chose the guided audio tour which was excellent.

We absolutely loved our visit to the Diefenbunker. We registered for the tour and we really learned a lot from our guide, Justin. He was very knowledgeable and could answer any questions that we had. While we only stayed for the 1h tour, we would like to return and spend more time exploring on our own and reading more of... More
