I thought the blue in the pictures was photoshopped, however the menakari colours are even more vibrant in real life. It's a stunning fort and truly lives up to its title, "Pearl of Forts". It was even more enjoyable because of our incredibly knowledgeable guide Mr. Sumer Singh. His information regarding both historical facts and mythological ideology (explaining the Hindu... More

If you are only able to see one thing in Gwalior, you should see the fort. Driving up the mountain road as you approach the entrance you will pass what I think is something more impressive than the fort, and don't get me wrong, the fort is impressive. They are massive statues carved into the rock. The fort is impressive... More

Great fort to visit. A local guide is helpfull in learning many details about its history. The fort and its location overlooking the city is a perfect setting for photographs. Really enjoyed the visit.

A word of caution.... if you intend taking the same guide along to visit the Jai Vilas Palace Museum, negotiate in advance if not they will try to take you for... More

The fort consists of a defensive structure and two main palaces, Gujari Mahal and Man Mandir, built by Man Singh Tomar. The fort is huge and magnificently build with blue tiles on the exterior walls of the fort which makes it even more beautiful. It takes 2 to 3 hours to visit the entire fort area. It also has a...
