Unique Experience in the Heart of Tuscany: Colle Val D'Elsa

3 reviews
Did you already visit the most famous destinations? Would you like to have a unique, fun and unforgettable experience in Tuscany?

I recommend you a day in Colle Val D'Elsa, a medieval village outside the tourist routes, but that has so much to say and show you... It is the birthplace of Arnolfo di Cambio, the Architect of Palazzo Vecchio and the Cathedral of Florence. Here Carlo Lorenzini, better known as Carlo Collodi, entered the seminary and he get the inspiration to write the famous novel of Pinocchio. It is also the most important town of Italy in the production of crystal. So why do not stop and enjoy a nice day between his shops, palaces, stories and markets?

the first thing to say is that the link through tripadvisor is wrong! this is the new website and you can book the pasta course by emailing Matteo at the address below. His english is very good so don't worry if your Italian is not! http://www.cucina-popolare.com/ matteo.infoofficina@gmail.com we had the BEST fun doing this - I never thought I'd be able to make real fresh pasta but turns out both my boyfriend and I can make normal pasta, traditional tuscan Pici (like thick hand-rolled spaghetti) and gnocchi! After making the dough, kneading it, cutting it, shaping it and rolling it, Matteo cooked it for us and I'm ashamed to say we ate ALL of it! Gnocchi with a cheese and sage butter sauce, pici with a minced pork and fennel flowers sauce (to die for!) and tagtiatelli with salty breadcrumbs and olive oil. Plus a lovely bottle of white. All included in the price of the course (€50 per person when we booked). Colle val d'elsa is worth a trip as well so we combined this course with a post-lunch wander about town.

We really enjoyed our cooking class with Matteo and particularly enjoyed the delicious food. So much, in fact, that we came back to Officina Della Cucina Populare the next night for dinner.
