We are living in coastal town, but this beach / shoreline is nature at its most beautiful. Drive to Koppie Alleen and walk about 300-400m. Then go left towards rocky shore whee you can see oystercathers, swim, tan or just enjoy the view. On the way back go towards and over the white dunes, and the vista takes your breath... More

We stayed 2 days at this Nature Reserve. While access is via 35 km of dirt road, it is definitely worth the trouble. We stayed at an equipped cottage. While using the braai, we were visited by a family of ostriches. Numerous other animals roamed nearby, such as bontebok and eland. The "adult' swimming pool had gorgeous views of the... More

We did stay at the accommodation here for one night (I'm glad we did) but that wasn't the star of the attraction. This is a lonely place to visit, but full of many animal. Goodness there are almost no any people. We appreciate the good walk to the various places. We will return in SA winter (our summer) to do... More

What an experience!! The Whale Trail tried and tested my mental and physical strength but did so in some of the most beautiful scenery known to man! 60 odd km's travelled over 5 days with a group of amazing friends made for a wonderful holiday that was out of the ordinary!

Arriving shaken but not stirred after the 30k off road drive we were warmly welcomed by the front of house team ( including the knowledgeable sommelier) , our equipped cottage Bontebok, was clean and comfortable with nice white bedding. It maybe lacks a more comfortable lounge seating area inside as there is a large kitchen/ dining table dominating the room but... More

We can recommend to visit De Hoop and hike along the whale trip. It is a nice but easy hike along the ocean.

We travelled 130 kms round trip on unpaved gravel roads in order to see SAND DUNES spectacular. It took hours and what we saw was no better than the sand dunes at Southport, Lancashire England. OK the see was a brilliant colour and lively but having had to pay to get into the nature reserve and also have a not... More

The place is most of all extraordinary combination of different habbitats - snow white sand dunes, lovely ocean shore, miles of the typical fynbos and animals - ostriches, zebras, baboons and on the top the lovely bontebok!

De hoop is a nice place to stay for the entire family. Great food and nice food with 2 somewhat small but pristine swimming pools. The rooms are tidy and big, and the staff is wonderful and kind and always there if you need something. There is only one con. There is nothing to do over here. We stayed during... More

We went end of December. Gorgeous weather. There is a big park with tones of wild animals. Ostriches, zebras, antilopes, birds, mangoustes, Egyptian ibis, lots and lots to see! The beach! OMG this beach! I am speechless! Kilometres or spotless white sand dunes. The most amazing beach I have ever seen! Be careful, the wind blows strongly and it can... More
