Stunning natural landscape

We only had an hour to explore, but I could easily spend all day here hiking and enjoying bird-watching! The walk along the sand dunes looked especially beautiful.

We took the Sterna trail, about a 7km walk. Take some sunscreen and a camera. Beautiful nature, lots of birds and a long walk on the beach. Stunning place if you love the outdoors

When first booking we were not happy that there is only one cottage for overnight visitors. However this was quickly turned to a delightful experience because of the scenery, isolation and well maintained cottage. We were very lucky to have an awesome sunset and sunrise the next morning. Most definitely worth the 12km of gravel road to get there.

You basically have two trail options: (1) a short (1.5 km there and 1.5 km back) walk from the entry to the beach and back (for this one, turn left after you cross the bridge), or (2) a longer (6.5 km) circular trail -- the Sterna Trail (for this one, turn right after you cross the bridge). We did the... More

De Mond Nature Reserve is well worth a visit for lovers of nature. We did the boardwalk/ estuary walk to the dunes and beach. About 3 km return. Beautiful dunes, many birds plus a huge flock of flamingoes. We also did the boardwalk on the other side plus the short walk uphill to the view point. There is another trail... More

Beautiful scenery with lots of birdlife. There is a small entrance fee and limited facilities (toilets) by the gate with a picnic area by the water. The walks are breathtaking through unspoilt countryside and beautiful beaches. There is also a quite demanding, marked trail through finbos and along the foreshore. Swimming was good in the estuary but the only downside... More

The whole family went (cousins & gran included), & everyone enjoyed the board walks & picnic picnic area was especially lovely with tables under the milkwood trees, and a franklin entertaining the kids. Other families were swimming or fishing.
