There is a courtyard on site where with observatory and shops,heliport are attached. There is satisfied response to the customer. You can see the best view lake toya and Mt Usu area. You can enjoy a180-degree panoramic view. Also parking is available for 50cars and electric power charger.

This place has a magnificent view of Lake Toya because of the elevation. Nice place to visit. The "TOYA" sign is cool to take pictures to prove your visit. The store also has a lot of sovereign food/snacks to buy.

Great place for viewing the whole Lake Toya. Good for taking picture especially on a sunny day. Have a hokkaido milk ice cream too.

The place is easy to find, and offers great view of Lake Toya. But if you stay at the Windsor Toya Hotel, perhaps you don't have to go there since you have the same view from your hotel, except you would like to do some shopping of souvenirs and local food stuff. Furano melons there are more expensive comparing with the local supermarkets. Parking is free.

We stopped at the Silo Observatory which had a large observation deck with some beautiful views overlooking Lake Toya as well as Nakajima Island.
The lake is a caldera lake and although 180m deep it never ices. We could just see Showa-Shinzan mountain but on a clearer day you would be able to see further.
They also had a convenience store which sold souvenirs, food and drink. Rest rooms were clean.

The Silo Viewing Platform has a great lookout view of Lake Tōya, but the large number of buses and tourists make the experience underwhelming, especially when they're very loud - and I was there during the quiet season! Come early to avoid the crowd.

Its a great look out point for Lake Toya. One will be able to shoot a panoramic view of the lake - but like any other site, depends greatly on the weather of the day.

We had a great view of the lake and took a family pic in the TOYA sign. My advice: Don't go too early in the morning or it will be clouded over. Completely different view around lunchtime.

We drove there before checking into our hotel. Easy parking.
It's definitely the best spot for a panoramic view of the beautiful Lake Toya. As expected, it was quite crowded.
Worth a visit for the breathtaking view of the lake & surrounding area.

Hi, may i know what's the best time to come here for photo taking? I read somewhere people mentioned in the morning might not be too good as it's against the morning sun. Pls advise.

Yes, evenings are probably better for nicer pictures of Lake Toya from Shikotsu observatory. Best time would really depend on the season though as the days are longer in summer than winter, for example.

There are two kinds of public transportation from Toyako Onsen town to "Silo Observation Deck".
It is a bus and a taxi.
If you use a taxi, you can arrive in 15 minutes with about 3000 yen each way.
If you use the bus you will be using regular buses with 6 flights per day.
I think that the detailed bus time is posted on the tourist association's page that you search by "TOYAKOONSEN" and hit, please check there.
