Climbing up over a few hundreds steps here is much easier as the steps are properly laid out. There are horses to bring you up half way only. First they qouted RMB30, subsequently down to 20 when we carried on walking. Up the Bai shui...More

I travelled an extra 2 hours to see this, really wasn't worth it. Some man made terraces next to a spring of heavily calcified water.

We stopped at Baishuitai on our way from Lijiang to Shangri-La, and were not too sure of what to expect. Coming in low season, the place was almost empty, and had plenty of room to take pictures. This spot definitely shines when the sun is...More

The walk down the stream is easy and pleasant, the whole area deserted, and the terraces have a pleasant sound and appearance. It's not a major sight, but it's representative of the Chinese Government's well-aimed effort and investment to provide attractions for tourists.

the White Terraces pools are not on the main raod so less people are willing to make the trip. These terraces are one of the most wonderful places we visted in China. Most of the terraces are white and blue, amazing.

A pretty unique natural phenomenon, with a nice wooden path throughout. The main drawback is the massive expanse of concrete that surrounds it.

A sign at the entrance to the terraces says: "Respecting Nature, Protecting Environment, Continuing History". In fact, the water from most of the terraces has been diverted from the naturally occuring pools so construction can continue on the addition of artifically constructed concrete pools. Some...More

We visited this area in early May 2017 and saw that there were construction underway, creating man-made terraces at a lower level. It closely resembles the natural terraces that are actually much further up. Felt that this could be deceiving to future visitors. Go all...More
