Our guide: Elena Luo My wife and I arrived at Lijiang airport on December 04, Elena her driver was waiting us. The first two nights we stayed in Xiluxiaoxie Inn. I knew Lijiang from a previous trip; we loved walking around the old town and...More

I visited here as part of a 32-day solo holiday with China Private Tours. Don’t come in autumn! While I don’t regret undertaking the tough hike, I wish I had been here in spring, when the water is blue, the weather sunny and the mountains...More

Definitely highlight of the Yunnan trip. We took a private car from Lijiang Old Town to Naxi Guesthouse and start trekking up 28 bends. No mules seen. Climb was panting but managable. The path was clear, solid and well trodden. We were a bit confused...More

The views and hike make for an excellent experience. If you want the path to be slightly easier, go from North to South; this way you can walk down the 28 (?) bends instead of up them.

This was a Yunnan highlight for me. The weather was perfect for hiking. You can leave your bags where the minibus drops you off and just carry a daypack. I don't think this is appropriate for people who are not in shape. Some folks were...More

What an unbelievable experience. Took the 8am local bus from the Lijiang Tourism Bus Station and paid 33RMB per person. When we reached the ticket booth, the ticket agent came on the bus and sold us the tickets. The road to the trail is well...More

A lovely complex of temples much closer to town than you would think. Don’t waste money on a taxi, just take the number 3 bus. You will get a bit of a tour of the city too.

We went as a tour group. We climbed the stairs from the parking lot to the bottom where we see the tiger statue and the gushing of water. Nothing spectacular, it was probably just too overrated.

Very good day trip from Lijiang though it is several hours of driving each way. The gorge is very impressive, especially when you hike all the way down to get close to the water. You can get two porters to carry you up from the...More

There is a lot of climbing down and up from the river level to the viewing and parking area, but the trek is worth it. Some knowledge of the area and the lore is a necessity for appreciating it!

I did the gorge hike 6 weeks ago (top trail) and took a 10-20mm and 18-270mm lenses. Got some great shots with both, I'd think you would get some good shots with 18mm but won't be able to zoom in on some great scenes. Unlike... More

Be prepared to walk down and up the steep 1000 plus steps to the gorge viewing platform carrying your one year child. Otherwise you got to pay the 2 rickshaw bearers to carry both of you up and down.

No it is not dangerous. The path is fine and there is no actual tiger there.
