T&R Theakston Ltd is one of the oldest family breweries in Yorkshire...

T&R Theakston Ltd is one of the oldest family breweries in Yorkshire and home of the legendary Old Peculier Ale. Visit this historical brewery in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales town of Masham. Experience first hand the craft and skill that goes into brewing our beers, the brewing process is built on almost two centuries of tradition, passed down through five generations of the Theakston family.2013 is a very special year as not only are we celebrating the 186th year of our company's foundation in 1827,but also ten years since we bought the brewery back from Scottish Courage and once again became a family owned independent brewery. Have a pint of our legendary beer in the Brewery Tap - The Black Bull in Paradise, names after the original inn, the Black Bull, where Robert Theakston first brewed our legendary ale and also the site where our brewery stands, once known as Paradise Fields. We always have six differnent Theakston Ales available on tap including our famous Old Peculier served from wooden casks. There is plenty to do and see including the Cooper’s shop where the cooper crafts the wooden barrels – one of the last remaining working cooperages in the country. Leave plenty of time to browse the gift shop full of ‘Peculier’ souvenirs and other Yorkshire delights.

What a great way to spend an hour or two. Went on the tour with the lovely Lynne as our guide. She was very informative about the whole process. At the end of the tour she took us into the bar to sample some of the beers. What a choice, ten different beers to chose from. Could have stayed there... More

We visited this brewery for a tour as we had thoroughly enjoyed a tour of neighbouring brewery. The actual pub was fine as were the beer samples, even though not beer drinker, enjoyed samples, so thank you. The tour itself was disappointing, felt as if we were shown areas that had not been used for many years. Everything dusty. Although... More

Stopped in for a quick pint. The beers were delicious. Wish we had gone on the brewery tour too but were too late.

This a great visit for those who like beer. Good tour, very informative. How do they produce enough from such a small place? The visitor centre is great, beer and tea and coffee, indoors with a log fire or out on the patio. Dog friendly too. We love it.

On a wet Monday it was a delight to discover the Theakston Brewery Visitor Centre, which includes a well stocked shop, Theakston bar and a brewery which people could visit if they wished. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the log fire on a cold, wet day added to the warm welcome we received. It's perfect for anyone... More

A must visit when in Masham. Love this little place. Very friendly and welcoming. Although it's a visitors centre the pub and gift shop is a little gem And the real ale is good too 😃 We have never done the brewery tour but always visit Paradise when we're in Masham

We visited the brewery for a friends birthday. This was our first visit to this brewery. Although we`re not avid beer drinkers, we did go on the tour around the brewery. We both found it very interesting to discover they still brew beer almost the same way as they did over 100 years ago. We finished our tour with a... More

Had a lovely afternoon in the beer garden. Peculier IPA is delicious. Bought a t-shirt whilst I was there so I can advertise the lovely beer! Friendly staff. Lovely afternoon. Will definitely be back!
