Our 4.5-hour tour will take you to the Mascot Gold Mine, perched high on a cliff overlooking the Similkameen Valley. You will explore historic mine buildings, find out how gold was mined here and experience what it was like to live at the mine. You’ll enter the main portal for approximately 200m where you will be treated to our light and sound effects show and experience what it is like underground.

The view will take your breath away – but the stairs might too! To access the mine site we’ll be hiking down a short dirt road and descending and ascending 583 stairs. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots, and bring water and snacks for the duration of the tour. The tunnel is chilly so remember to bring a sweater.

Incredible!

A totally enjoyable 4 1/2 hour tour. It takes almost a hour to bus up to the mine on a switchback loaded road out of another age. There are a lot of steps down to the mine (and... read more

Learned it was closed upon arrival in Hedley. Very disappointed as the first leg of our trip was focused on this mine. Mislead.

Booked a trip based on this as an anchor point to find out it was closed for the year on arrival. The website indicated "seismic upgrade" but i called and the person in the office said they had no one to run it. Kind of hard to make money if you dont open the doors. Dissapointing.

A totally enjoyable 4 1/2 hour tour. It takes almost a hour to bus up to the mine on a switchback loaded road out of another age. There are a lot of steps down to the mine (and back up to the bus), but there is no rush and the views are unbelievable. As you sit by the mine entrance... More

Fantastic view of the Similkameen Valley. Excellent tour with a fun guide. It felt like there are about 1 million stairs to climb in the end.

We decided to give the Mascot gold mines tour a go after reading the great reviews and talking to the helpful staff at the museum. The tour takes 4.5 hours and includes a short introductory film, a 1 hour bus ride up a steep windy road (all the while listening to fascinating historical facts and stories about the mining towns... This was my second experience up at the mine. My first visit was just after it opened, and I was amazed then, and still am, at the ingenuity of actually building a fully serviced mine so high up and precariously perched on the side of a mountain. The restoration was extremely well done, especially after seeing pictures of how dilapidated... More

A 45 minute bus ride took us up nearly a kilometer above the village of Hedley, BC, on a very curvy road ( I think 29 switchbacks). Our tour guides shared some native cultural anecdotes and history as well as mining history in this region. They were very knowledgeable and informative. After a short downhill hike, we descended about 589... More

If you enjoy a sensational view, this tour to historical Mascot Gold Mine is for you. The 4.5 hour tour to the buildings and mine entrance perched on the side of a mountain 3000 feet above the valley floor is fantastic. You ride a minibus up the mountainside on a dramatic gravel road that winds back and forth above the... More

Ingenious ways to mine Gold up a mountian at the 5000 ft level. It shows the determination to get at the gold that was mined, would be worth appr.3.6 billion $ in todays dollars Note:One needs to be in fairly good health-595 steps down-595 steps up.
