Off the beaten track and in the woods at the top of Baar, the Höllgrotten is a natural charm and wonder. It's been enhanced by lights in parts of the caves in order to give some ambiance and definition to the rocks. It's an idea that works well. This is not necessarily a day trip on its own so you... The drive to the caverns was through a long and skinny forest road, just when I thought I was going the wrong way, we finally arrived. The self-guided tour doesn't take that long, but it is pretty interesting to see how the various structures were created over time. There are two parts to the cavern, and upper and lower section.

I was looking for something to do near Zug and came across this cave. It was worth the visit. It is nicely lit, well maintained. But if you don't really like caves, it's not for you. It's a cave 😁. I enjoyed the experience.

It's a nice trip to see something new and different. It's a 30 min drive from Zurich and the last part of the track is in the forest. I wouldn't recommend it for old people if they are not fit and sporty. Once you buy the ticket, you have to walk a 5 min slope which is not easy at... More

Höllengrotten is the name given to the limestone caves near Baar. The tour of its interior is approximately one and a half kilometres long and on it you can observe lovely stalactite and stalagmite formations. A visit to the cave complex in wild, romantic Lorzentobel is well worthwhile.

Take a wonderful walk along the river from Baar to the Hollgrotten. At the end is a restaurant, the house is very old and simple but the food is great. Kids can run around, dogs are welcome. Visit the underground caves as well and make it a whole days outing

When visiting the caves, I recommend using the app that can be downloaded prior to the visit or rent a pair of head sets on site. Especially kids will enjoy the stories and the way the interactive experience is set-up. There are also side boards in each cave that are very informative. Not recommended if you don't like confined spaces,... More

We go there regularly, sometimes for dinner, sometimes for lunch, or sometimes just for a drink while walking our dogs. The place feels very homey. Mostly locals go there during the week and tourists on Weekends, after a visit to the caves nearby. They have a self service kiosk which gets very busy during the summer weekends. They also have two... More

Difficult to find since signage is non-existent, but here are the GPS coordinates: N 47 11'14.3" E 008 33'26.8" Short and interesting caverns. Wear shoes that give you some grip.

This is an attraction best reached by car. There is no bus or train route near by. Some people arrived by bike. It is a great excursion on our way from Lucerne to Zurich for the day. Such a unique cavern/cave. Never seen anything like it. It is self guided, so you can take your time and go your own... More
