You spent the day in Assisi, and what to do tomorrow? 9 minutes' train ride from Assisi, you arrive at Spello and begin the climb upward toward Santa Maria Maggiore and the Baglioni Chapel. This spotless, charming hilltop town gives you views of Assisi in the distance, but Pinturicchio's art is also a view not to be missed. Suddenly you're... More

Most exciting visit to this church with its outstanding murals. A must to see as one can stand for a long time admiring the amazing detail and perspectives.

We tried to visit the church, however it has been closed following the recent earthquakes until further notice, engineer's inspection is required. There was no indication on the sign as to when it may re-open for visitors so beware if this is your reason for travelling to Spello!

A somewhat bland exterior conceals a wonderful interior, full of beautiful paintings and frescoes. The Baglioni chapel is the undoubted highlight, where you can spend several minutes surrounded by Pinturicchio's world-famous frescoes. We managed to spend 25 minutes in the chapel, thanks to a steady trickle of visitors each paying their €2 for admission and lighting, and there was no... More

The Baglioni Chapel is simply stunning: distilled beauty, the kind of which you only seldom get to lay your eyes on.

This is truly a magnificent place of worship, even if one is not a Catholic, it is a most impressive place to visit and meditate. The richnesss of the architecture, the incredible craftsmanship are truly astounding.

There are so many lovely things to do in Spello and the architecture and the sights are amazing. We would have liked to have been there for the flower festival at the end of May.

We drove to Spello and parked outside of the walls and walked up hill though the streets and stopped at this church with beautiful paintings. Spello is a beautiful city and well worth visiting if spending time in Umbria.

The church is home to beautiful artwork which is delightful to see so 'up close and personal.' Even if you only have a few minutes and are in Spello - stop in!! You won't be sorry.
