Local church at its best

Like many churches we have visited on the island it has some unique features and is a mix of worship to both Mary and Jesus. The wall designs are amazing and the artwork is lovely.

A very small church, but sweet and interesting, right on the sea front and next to two of the sea front restaurants

We enjoyed our brief visit to the church, which was more a small friendly place rather than a grand statement of wealth and power. The square in which the church is set is very nice with lots of greenery, craft stalls and refreshment opportunities - also home to many gecko lizards.

Lovely old church in attractive square shaded by trees. Treasure trove of religious art and statues, unspoilt for centuries - well worth the fee to go in and look around.

We visited here to see the enormous silver cross (8 foot, nearly 50 kilos) which was definitely worth seeing, it is incredibly beautiful and despite its size, it looks delicate and the workmanship is astounding especially considering they probably used fairly primitive tools to make it. The altar piece and roof are also amazing, ornate to the point of vulgarity.

We didn't actually visit the church [hate religion] and the famous Drago tree made us really sad cos, cast in the perennial Spanish plethora of concrete it is, of course, dying. The town itself is beautiful but any attempt to ask about directions to or from anywhere, or anything else, of the male run tourist info booths is a lost... More
