Amazing
Jun 2021
This is an amazing experience. My wife and I took out two boys (8 and 11) and we all loved spending time with the animals. The hosts were great and it's such a good mission. Well worth it if you are looking for an easy and fun few hours with cool farm animals.

Amazing.

We did the farm tour as well as the beach and jungle horseback ride. I’m not sure I can even put a review in words to explain how inspiring it was. Best I can do is tell you to experience for yourself. Emmanuel was a fantastic guide for us and taught us more than he will ever know. Vicki we are truly thankful that we got to spend time at the farm and spend time taking with you. We will be back.

Morning excursion from RIU
Jun 2021 • Family
We visited The Monkey Farm on a morning excursion from RIU guanacaste. The road to the farm is steep and bumpy with amazing views of the harbor along the way. Our visit to the farm was such a cool experience. While there we learned about different plants and animals and sustainable farm practices. The mission of the farm was especially touching. We got to know a little about Emmanuel. For us this was a special treat. The kids were entertained the whole time. On the way back to the resort we stopped at playa coco which was a lively beach town. Well worth the visit.

Farm animal experience up close & personal
May 2021 • Friends
The Monkey Farm is a humble, very clean and well-kept rehabilitation center for humans and animals. Super inspiring snd impressive! No monkeys are at the MF, but a plethora of other animals provide a delightful, simple, quiet, personalized experience. We held baby goats (2 weeks old), bottle-fed month-old baby goats. Japanese chicken, brahma chickens, turkeys, peacocks, horses (a colt was born just 4 hours before our first visit), rabbits, herb gardens, and a well-run aquaponics system (not hydroponics). We got to feed the fish and hand-feed the big water turtles. Our horse ride was very nice. This is a nonprofit outfit with some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

Valuable experience
Jan 2021 • Family
Loved it. We took the tour and we were the only ones on it. Our son really enjoyed feeding and being able to hold and pet the animals. We also enjoyed making tea from the plants on the farm and learning about their various health benefits. Unfortunately we didn't see monkeys because they're wild and you have to just be lucky but still it was a valuable experience. Perhaps they could consider re-naming the farm because the monkeys are just one part of their mission to help the poor and other kinds of animals. The animals seemed well taken care of. Ask for directions though the road is not well-marked and Google didn't know where the correct turn was after the main road. Thanks for all the time you spent with us!

Weird and Wonderful!
Mar 2020 • Family
The mission of The Monkey Farm is a valid one. They care for random animals and random people alike with Grace and compassion. We thoroughly enjoyed our horseback riding adventure, even in the extreme heat. It was dry season so very little shade but educational and lovely. My daughter will be just 7 in the next few months with very little horseback riding experience but she did the full tour without complaint. Her morning at The Monkey Farm and horse riding will surely be one of the best memories of this vacation.

Don’t Go There
Mar 2020 • Family
The Monkey Farm has no monkeys. It is essentially a sad, rundown little farm comprised of a few small pens and huts. None of the animals have been rescued or are being rehabilitated. The guide confirmed that they are all being raised to be milked or eaten. The animals include a few goats, a couple of pigs, some rabbits, a few horses and a cat. As we were leaving, local animal protection officers arrived. We later learned online that the Farm has had animals removed from their premises because they were being mistreated. It also appears that the farm owner/founder has been convicted on multiple charges for fraudulent ‘charitable’ activities. The Monkey Farm isn’t a place where anyone should be spending their time or money. My heart goes out to the poor animals being kept there.

Horse ride jungle tour
Mar 2020 • Family
We visited the Monkey farm (no monkeys) but we saw some amazing people and animals! My daughter got to hold and bottle feed a baby lamb! We took the 1 hr horse ride jungle tour. The views were amazing! It was very relaxing and the horses are very well trained, looked very healthy and well fed. Vicki and all the volunteers there was so friendly and welcoming. It was certainly one of the highlights of our 2 week trip!! Loved it!;)

Beach and trail ride
Feb 2020
Took the morning beach and trail ride with Vicki
I am an experienced rider and I was very impressed with the condition of the horses. The ride was great and very calm even for first time riders. This non profit provides a wonderful service to the community, feeding the hungry and teaching English to help locals get a better job. Support this worthwhile charity.

My husband and I visited the Monkey Farm while we were vacationing in Playas Del Coco. We enjoyed hearing about the sheep, birds, pigs, and plants. The volunteers were extremely knowledgeable and kind. I highly recommend!
