Visited Chaweng Beach a couple of times in mid-March 2023. When the seas weren't rough and the wind howling, the water was a turbid brown from all the raw sewage pumped into the ocean. To be clear, the beach was completely polluted, a no go. It was appalling, disgusting, and very disappointing. And no, it hadn't recently rained. This wasn't runoff. You could see what it should've been, as there were patches of turquoise water 50 meters or so offshore. Right at the shoreline was the worst, as the sewage had coalesced into a chocolate brew that discouraged one from even dipping their toes in the water.

Chaweng beach is a beautiful beach with lovely sand and could be absolute pearl, but it is ruined by litter and garbage everywhere.
Koh Samui in general is a beautiful island destroyed by litter and garbage. There is no garbagebins and the people living of tourism and especially the ones with beach side locations takes absolutely no responsibility of cleaning up the beach area or the area around them.
It is a shame.

This is a great big beach to visit. You can walk along the beach for a long time and the waves are nice and big when we were there.

I’m staying here for 22 days while visiting my son. However, I’ve not been able to swim here as the sea is too rough. It is a lovely sandy beach so I’m very disappointed.

I have been several times to Chaweng and stayed 6 days this year at the Montien House.
The sea is no longer clean and there are lots of garbage on the beach. Worse...more than half of the beach has disappeared At high tide the water comes right in front of the Montien. You can no longer walk along the beach.

A lot of tourists but that make sense. The beach is gorgeous and so is the water. There are people selling things but you can avoid them

On a return visit after a 5 year gap, I was disappointed. The beach is littered with rubbish washed ashore. Plastic. Lots of plastic. While walking along the sand I stepped over a hyperdermic needle among other trash. Shampoo bottles, make up, water bottles, ect. Sorry Chaweng but I will not be rushing back.

Recently spent some time on this beach and wow its beautiful, the people along the beach are soo friendly and approachable, the Thai massages dotted along the beach are amazing, listening to the waves crash in and I even ended up hiring out a Jet Ski to have some on the waves!

Great long sandy beach with bars and restaurants along. Beautiful view makes it perfect place for sunbathing. During the day it’s really crowded place.

Fantastic beach only second to Gold Coast Australia!
We are staying in Bhoa Put but have travelled every day (during our 3 week stay to visit this beautiful beach which has something for all ages.
Bars & restaurants aplenty along the 3 Kilometre stretch of golden sands.
Only issues are drugs are offered by beach vendors & sea can be rough when wind is blowing & no lifeguards are patrolling the beaches.

Hi. I'm thinking of staying at First bungalow resort South Chaweng and I love swimming. Is the swimming good there with no rocks or are there better placesto swim? Thank you.

The beach there is nice! Do note there are rocks over to the left side of the beach from first bungalow. Otherwise the beach /water is a clear stretch to the right. I'd say it's good for a swim!

1) it is not at all a party island
2) Not much to see for young children
3) mostly sunshine with some showers. Temp between 28 and 35 degrees
4) Its best to rent a car to go somewhere unless you are in Chaweng
5) The island is mainly for beach tourists ( Chaweng an Lamai beach are the best )

This Chaweng beach is a beautiful beach. And shady with the smell of nature The water is not very deep to play. Suitable for taking pictures with friends and family. Including walking in the peaceful nature. Recommended to visit here.

If you like to stay near market, bar, restaurants and fun places then stay near to any accommodation at Central Festival Samui. Or you prefer quite places then stay at Samui Reotel beach resort. We stayed here for two nights and found it extremely comfortable in all manner. You Can go to Central Festival Samui area by 50 Baht bus from here.

I would stay towards the Lamai end of Chaweng- the beach is better. If you can find the locals market the prices are much better.
There are plenty of shops, bars and cafes all along Chaweng though
