This church and the frescoes within are criminally understated. The canvases dedicated to St Teresa of Avila alone are captivating, and the Spanish realist school crucifix and altar are breathtaking. The frescoes themselves are wonderful. Ranging from 15th to 18th century, they are a varyingly preserved but overall wonderful window into the monastic buildings of Scicli.

Chiesa Santa Terese is located at the lower end of Via Penna and is entered on payment of a small entrance fee. This is another of the many Baroque churches found in and around the Ragusa Province, but like so many of them is no longer used for religious purposes, fortunately however it has not fallen into disrepair and has found a new use as a museum displaying relics, mainly sections of frescos recovered from other churches around the region. Some of the curators speak English so we were fortunate in that the lady present at the time could describe the various pieces and where they had been salvaged from. It was only a short visit of some 30 minutes as there not many items to see and some of them are very feint.

This church which is located at the bottom end of the pedestrian street forms the 3rd part of a combined ticket with the Stanza del Questore and Palazzo Spardaro. It another attractive baroque church from the outside and inside it has some impressive aspects which are somewhat let down by a collection of salvaged religious art work that has been set up in the nave. The lady who was on the door gave a short guided tour which had its humorous side as she couldn't speak English and attempted to read an English explanation from a set of notes. It would of course been easier had she given us the notes to take around and read ourselves but she was so keen to give it a go we went along with the experience helping out when she got stuck.
