The memorial is situated on top of a bunker, overlooking the eastern end of Omaha beach. A German stronghold is around this area, and the bunkers can still be seen.

This memorial is located just a short distance from the American Cemetery and is located atop a bluff overlooking the site where some of the most intense fighting took place on that day. Located around this memorial are German bunkers and trenches. Well work the...More

We visited on a rainy and windy day, but in spite of this, we could walk around and see first hand what the D Day invasion meant! We felt deeply touched by the sacrifice and courage of all those involved in this fight! WWII, hopefully,...More

The Omaha Beach memorial is one of many amazing symbols of the commitment and sacrifice that soldiers of the US, UK and Canadian militaries made on June 6, 1941. A bucket list event if there ever was one (for me) to go see these places...More

To see the terrain and what our young men had to overcome was truly something. Unless you visit and stand in their footsteps, you truly can not comprehend.

Take a walk around the area to understand the magnitude of the task in invading this beach. Look at the bunkers and defences and give some thought to the young men on both sides who gave their lives.

Well placed with super views over the whole of the beach. We walked up from the beach and you can appreciate how difficult it must have been on the landings. Certainly makes you think.

When you stand here you can only imagine the bravery of the soldiers landing here on June 6th. This is the site of one of the most heavily fortified German emplacements on Omaha Beach. There were machine guns, mortars and a cannon in concrete bunkers...More

Vast cemetery without a real architectural highlight, though the classical pond and statue are nice. The cemetary locates numerous rows of crosses and is well maintained.
