Great museum. Actually, it is called Motala Motormuseum (Motala Motor Museum) but there is much more than just cars.

As you enter there is a good selection of old fashioned stationary engines, an aircraft engine and they have moved & installed an old workshop to show how it was in older times.

After that you come to an amazing collection of old radios (including the very first crystal spark radios), old televisions, record/tape/entertainment systems and a wall of all types of mobile phones, telephones, telephone exchange etc.

Then, you come to the cars :-). A great collection of cars from all eras, from the T-Ford all the way up to a modern Formula 1. I also love the fact they had not just the flashy cars, like T-Ford, Rolls Royce, etc. but even the cars of my childhood, like a 1970s Ford Escort, Morris Minor and Fiat 500.

Many of the cars had a connection to famous people, like Zlaton's first Mercedes, the first Koenigsegg prototype and a Rolls Royce Phantom used by the British embassy that even Churchill has ridden in, to name just a few.

There is also a large collection of motorbikes, an old petrol station and much more.

We really enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend a visit.

I looked up things to do in Motala and this rated No. 1. To be honest it was ok and the vehicles, camera and radio collections were cool. So I rated it a 3

So many cars, an amazing collection. The display was a bit compromised as the building is packed full of cars, which in a way that added to the charm. It's all a bit amateur but that doesn't detract and the museum is well worth a visit. There are some other surprising collections like hundreds of domestic radio sets, the wooden type that everyone used to have in their living room. Found myself walking around smiling.

We found this to be a wonderful museum on a cold and frosty day in Motala. It is packed with interest for anyone remotely interested in cars and social history. There are collections of everyday electrical items, especially those used for music making. For car and motor-bike enthusiasts this is a collection worth travelling to visit - ranging from some of the earliest to speed record holders and acquatic racers. The historic toy collection contained much that this grandparent had enjoyed over the years and fascinated our small grandchildren as well. There is a good cafe, plenty of parking and the quayside location is worth a visit in its own right.

As big car fans we have visited many motor museums all over the world and this was one of our favourites. The memorabilia surrounding the cars added to the experience and we also loved the vintage radio area. Great cakes in the cafe too!
