We were fortunate to have lived in Büdingen, Germany for two years while my husband was stationed there with the US ARMY. It was easy to fall in love with this charming town, which we did immediately! And although we had returned to Büdingen since...More
The only thing I can add about the tourist information Bureau itself is that it was closed when I arrived on a fall weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed myself just walking around and looking at the beautiful town with a changing leaves and colors but I...More

A genuine "off the beaten path" experience, Budingen retains most of the fortifications and buildings from the middle ages. The walking tour with Heidi, in English, gives a much better understanding of how the town has evolved, including access to some things gs not usually...More
We visited the medieval town of Budingen on a day trip from Frankfurt. It was a quick and easy train trip (@ 1 hour with one transfer at a tiny station) that transported us into another time. Before leaving Canada, we had arranged for an...More

Hi, the train station is Budingen Oberhess. It's an easy trip from Frankfurt's main train station. There is train leaving almost every hour and it takes about 51 minutes - with one change of trains at Geinhausen - to get to Budingen. Geinhausen is a small station and the train to Budingen is easy to find. Once we got off the train at Büdingen Oberhess, we walked straight down the street in front of the station to reach the old walled centre. There are signs to the historical part of the town but we took one wrong turn. However, Budingen is a very small place and we got back on track very quickly. I highly recommend Budingen as a day trip from Frankfurt. It is enchanting!
