One of the trips during our holiday led to Scarperia because it was recommended on a site. The town was ok but what really made the trip worth it was our walk through Via Dell'oche where our kids were amazed by a really friendly inventor/wood craftsman/recycleman who showed them huis creations. Further down the street it was time for dad to be amazed when we stumbled upon Coltellerie Giglio. Once inside i felt like a kid in a candystore that didn't know where to look first and that wanted everything in the shop. I was welcomed very friendly and although i only bought two little items i was treated like i spent a million euro's. If i had to describe Coltellerie Giglio in a few words it would be ; passion and amazing craftsmanship. Visiting Coltellerie Giglio is an experience in itself and that little walk through Via Dell'Oche was one of the highlights of my holiday.

As a Chef a new knife is a great souvenir to really enjoy. However I have several of every purpose knife but I was looking for a nice forged fish filet knife. At the time all they had was a stamped commercial version. I thought a nice olive wood handle would be nice and the price was 130 euro. Well within the budget. However after checking in with someone they informed me shipping was going to be 250 euro to USA. What! We're not talking overnight FedEx. Unfortunately the language barrier kept me from querying further and I settle for a 7inch all purpose knife for 50. Tried to go to the forge which is nearby but despite assurances that his cousins were there working they must of taken the day off. Aaahhhhh Italy, it's beauty and casual relationship with time

My dad loves to collect different pocketknives and I love to cook so this shop had something for both of us. Friendly staff and interesting place to check out.

Beautifully crafted knives in a very interesting shop in the small Tuscan town of Scarperia near Berberino and Borgo San Lorenzo. The family that runs the place is very welcoming and very knowledgable about their art of crafting incredible hand made knives. Looking forward to use mine. I couldn't resist.
