Came across Levi quite by accident - actually travelled in December 2019 but discovered this draft review in my outbox after a two and a half year travel drought so I hope is still relevant. We arrived just before peak season and so had the accommodation almost to ourselves. This became a huge advantage as no queueing at the ski lifts. The prices were very reasonable and the slopes were varied. Quite a novelty for us Aussies was the very short days but there was definitely sufficient lighting on the fields.

Hidden gem of a ski resort. Not the Alps but nevertheless a great place for a short break. Plenty of skiing and not much queuing for the lifts. A great beginners area. A short walk across the road there is plenty of accommodation, bars and restaurants.

We selected Levi due to the better lifts than double higher Ylläs. Levi keeps all the new lifts closed without a good reason. They claim weather but sun is shining and wind is moderate.

Hi! Thank you for your review and your feedback. We are sorry to hear you were not 100% satisfied with us. Safety is one of the most important things in our operations and this is why we do not run lifts during hard winds, as it is not safe. Unfortunately, there are some days during the season when the wind is too hard for running (especially) the big lifts (Gondolas/chairlifts) due to safety reasons. Even though the wind might feel moderate on the foot of the fell, it can be up to 20m/s on top of the fell. During the time of your stay, there were several days on the row that the wind gusts were almost 30m/s, and during those days we were not able to run all the lifts. Hopefully, you will give our resort another chance in the future and you will be able to enjoy all of our slopes and lifts. We warmly welcome you back! Best regards, Essi / Levi Ski Resort

Wonderful winter wonderland, really unspoilt, lots of skiing, and winter sports tied to local cultures. Friendly populace, English spoken everywhere, mountain was safe if cold at -20C. Sirkka village is at the foot of the ski slopes and walkable end to end in 20 minutes but bustles regardless. Taxis readily available to the local Elf village and we even met Father Christmas despite being early January. And in its white coat and twilight the countryside is breathtakingly beautiful and eerie. Lots to do, slightly expensive for UK travellers but less so if you were from Switzerland. We’ve had a great time just doing the usual tourist trail, night horse ride, skidoos, snow shoeing, etc. but we’d come back for the skiing.
