The Batcave is worth a visit. Panji my guide was very knowledgeable about the different species that inhabit this cave. Bring a good torch as there is a bit of clambering over rocks. Saw a huge centepede and birds nesting as well as plenty of bats.

Good place to kill a few hours if you are looking for something to do. There are local guided at the entrance that will take you in for 25000r. They provided a torch for me that was definitely needed. They were goo at pointing out all the life in the cave that I would have missed otherwise (frogs, spiders, fish,... More

Amazing cave with lots of climbing. This was so much fun. But do not forget a torch! You will see many bats hanging and flying around.

We did this hike on the afternoon that we arrived to Bukit Lawang. Very interesting and fun. We saw lots of bats and had lots of fun exploring the 3 caverns.

Bat cave is almost similar with other bat cave in Indonesia. But, since its located in Orang Utan conservation area, I think this is quite unique.

I walked there and there was a guy sitting in front of the entrance. Paid him 15.000 and he gave us the full tour inc. explanations. its not too big, and you can finish this within 2 hours, but a great activity for your mornings off.

This cave (or small cave system, really) is quite beautiful; not a lot of formations in the cave, but the path through the chambers is beautiful and the various entrances just look very wild and untamed. We saw two types of bats, centipedes, swallows, scorpions, spiders, and frogs... all of which are apparently poisonous (well, not the swallows). Apparently the... More
