Gorgeous Caminhos de Pedra

Charming and lovely atmosphere. It's lovely to spend the day there. Good food, warm reception and a good way to understand the local history of the first settlers in the 1800!

If you like of bucolic and historical landscapes, that let you know about the Italian colonization in South of Brazil, you must know Caminhos de Pedra. You can go by car, and stop in the little road stores (and buy cheese and ham), taste nice wines and sparkling wines, or (THE BEST), by bike, with all tranquility and tourist guide!... More

Culture gastronomic, architectural culture, vesturário culture, musical culture, subtropical nature of altitude and add to all this a good infrastructure access and sympathy of the descendants of settlers and have the "Caminhos de Pedra" Bento Gonçalves. A must see for those who love stories of perseverance and success. The incentive to use labor of elderly people in the region and... More

You have to plan a stay in the region so that you can enjoy everything that is there to see. There are old houses, very good restaurants (we recommend Angelo!!) and nice little shops, besides the wonderful views on the way.

Personally I was quite disappointed during my 3rd visit to Caminhos de Pedra, a few days ago. The previous two visits took place during the period of 1998-2001, when the road had no pavimentation and the colonial houses really stood out along the scenic tour, keeping most of their original atmosphere which dates back to the end of the 1800s.... Small shops and restaurants line a winding, pictureque road in a valley. We found high quality locally crafted items (wool items, cutlery, jewelry, clothing) at a reasonable price. Worth a couple of hours, plus lunch if you need a break from the wineries in the area. Family-friendly, a nice afternoon.

Caminhos de Pedra is a scenic road with some vineyards, beautiful forests, restaurants, and typical houses. Children would enjoy a visit to Casa da Ovelha, where they can feed and even milk the sheep at some specific hours; the store sells good cheeses too. A pity there is no sidewalk: the road isn't safe for pedestrians, but the area would... More
