The Zimmer tower looks very attractive from the outside. The museum about time measurement is alright. Inside the tower one finds one floor where tides and times are kept of places around the world. The second floor shows the mechanism behind the clocks on the outside of the tower. There is also a movie explaining the history of the tower,... More

There is a wonderful clock in the Zimmer Square in Lier. The Centenary clock has one large dial in the centre (1.5 m diameter). This dial shows the exact time (GMT+1, during daylight saving time GMT+2 is used instead). The twelve dials around the centre dial show the following (starting from the dial in the 2 'o clock position and... More

Thirteen dials can be viewed from the outside, including the lunar faces, the Zodiac, tides of the sea, .. Inside of the tower, 44 more dials can be observed. Every day at high noon exactly, an extra can be seen. Closed on Mondays, and a small admission fee is applicable.

We were looking around for a tall tower, dominating the skyline, until we actually found it. It's a robust tower but all credits go to the hour piece. Both tower and clock are very well-preserved. It's worth the wait to see the sculptures on the (south) side of the building come to life. Impressive!

Amazing bit of engineering & craftsmanship. Best to plan your visit so you're there when there is 'special movement'.

Lier is a lovely little town and this clock exemplifies it too. In the square there are several simple cafes and restaurants so to sit in the sun and watch the world is very relaxing.

Spent 2 hours there. Tower is special but we were expecting more. Was enough to see all sightseeings. Very comfortable situated in centrum.

It is a nice tower to visit, a nice tower to walk around and a nice tower to watch when you are going for a beer on one of the terraces on het zimmerplein

We were walking around town and this Clock Tower was quite interesting. It was so ornate with all kinds of information like the seasons, tides, and zodiac/moon signs. Something I never seen before...if you are in the area, you should definitely go take a look.

Thank Hannah H
