Very interesting experience

The water is so salty you cant even swim, very funny :-) Salt and mould are healthy for skin. Level of services, food, drinks and prices are okay for such outside complex.

We stayed for one day in Ocna Sibiului as part of our trip through Romania. It's been over 25 years since I've last been on a holiday in Ocna. I have sweet memories from my childhood when we had so much fun in the salty lakes. It's the best place to "swim" even for the ones that are afraid of... More

Apparently there are 3 ways to enjoy the salt mine mud and lakes. There is the expensive spa option, the mid-range Strand Hotel option and the low-end budget option. We got on a train (a nice modern one with aircon) from Sibiu and 25 minutes later, we, along with the rest of the train got off and paid next to... More

Took public bus from Sibiu. Easy. Seems to be various options as to price/services/ "luxury" . We picked least expensive. Clean public toilets and showers. Reasonably priced and convenient places to eat/drink.

The resort is not fancy at all. There are no great hotels in the area and neither great services. You will find those in Sibiu which is at about 10 kilometers away. This is a great place to go if you want to swim in salt water or get covered in mud. Those activities have a good impact on your... More

Having a bath in brine and getting packed in mud is something you'll have to do - for fun, if nothing else - once in a lifetime, at least. The place has a certain 1900 charm and I can't say I mind it.

not sure where you can find other places like this. incredible experience as a non swimmer. I can only recommend to include this as a nice destination, if you're visiting Sibiu in summer.

I am sure that other reviewers did not know what they were visiting. These are mud baths formed on the remains of a Roman Salt Mine. In Western Europe people pay a fortune for the basic treatments you give yourself here for pence. Changing facilities are basic - you change behind a discrete screen - and health and safety is... the lakes in ocna sibiului are very famous across romania as there is a very high salt concentration and you basically can not drown, you stay floating because it is so salty, in the summer time it is a very popular tourist attraction
