We regularly stay at Duke and have done for many years. The Landlord John, Trevor and the rest of the team are very welcoming. There have been discreet improvements but the character and atmosphere are still the same, i.e. great! Good selection of well kept ales and nice selection of food which was very good. Worth a detour! Of course... More

We have been to the Duke of York on many occasions, it is a fabulous pub very warm and welcoming. Old world charm and a log fire add to the atmosphere. Extensive menu to choose from, this time we both had roast beef and homemade Yorkshire pudding (no Aunt Bessie's here). We managed to share a sticky toffee pudding. ...yummy.... More

This thatched building was originally a row of cottages. It is famous for its War Horse connection - Michael Morpurgo developed the story idea here. There is a friendly welcome and good local ales. The food is hearty pub fares and the steak and kidney pudding is worth the 30 minute wait.

The portions have shrunk and generally the food is not the high standard it used to be. I have visited a few times in the past year or so, each time hoping that it will have returned to the experiences I remember a few years ago but find it hard to justify the quite significantly increased prices.

We stayed over at the Duke of York on our way to Cornwall. We had a couple of evening meals and breakfasts which were of excellent quality with real beers in good condition. The rooms may not be up to the standards of the Dorchester Hotel but they welcome dogs for which we were very grateful and the bed was... More

Fish soup disgusting, steak tough, altogether very disappointing, as have used the pub for 20 years, & was a very good place to go. 9 people from Ashriegney won't be using it until they hear it has improved.

We stopped off for lunch at the Duke of York with our dog after a walk. Very friendly staff, gorgeous little beer garden and dog friendly too. Menu was extensive with a specials board. I had scallops wrapped in bacon to start and they were perfectly cooked. My partner sticky pork ribs which he enjoyed. Our mains were lovely too.... More

Brilliant pub for food or just a beer. Their is a large restaurant or you can eat in the bar area. Both areas are great. Good atmosphere in the bar and good staff. They have an extensive menu and specials board, but not too much to offer which means that what they do is good.
