In HALIOTIKA- La Cité de la Pêche, the whole family goes into the high seas: adults and children can dive into the fishermen’s world. In this modern and interactive discovery centre, Haliotika introduces us to the real fishing universe: virtual fishing boat gangway, trawl reproduction and its fishing, visual and audible environment, riddles for children… everything is designed to take grown-ups and little ones back to the Breton fishing boats...Haliotika also offers several workshops and visits: fish markets, port visits, tasting workshops, cooking workshops, seaweed workshops, treasure hunts, on board visits… And don’t forget our wonderful seaview terrace from where you can leisurely watch the unloading of the catch.

There is a nice long balcony area for people to view the shipping vessels unloading at 4pm (check online before you go). A lot of sea gulls flying over and you may get hit by bird droppings! After the viewing the unloading of fish vessels everyone would go down to the fish shop to buy some really fresh langoustines and... More

This is a great experience to see the fish being landed and moved to the auction house and sold on. Very knowledgeable guide and Juliette worked hard and spoke very good English. Thank you

Was a stop off during a rainy day at the end of July. Really good audio tour and displays. They've thought about how best to tell the story of catching fish.

If you arrive at Guilvenec around 4.30 pm you can see the fishing boats arriving and unloading their catch. An experience rich in colour, sounds and smells. You can buy a ticket for a guided visit of the "Criée" where the catches are sold by auction. We took the guided visit in French, so we have no idea what the... More

We had big hopes since a lot of activities are organised, however we did 3 things and honestly it's a rip off. You pay a lot of money for little in return. If you are not french speaking you will have big problems since all tours are done in English.

Could they not have added some more to the english audio and I think they may only do the english tour of the fish... More

Haliotika is the best place to understand why Le Guilvinec is the biggest harbour in France for the day fishing or craftsman fishing. It is still a hard labour but it used to be even harder then. It is well made for adults and kids and it's always good to visit if the weather is not at your taste...
