We found our best adventures happen when we get a referral and when we keep an open mind. Luckily a friend of ours referred Andechs Monastery to us, otherwise we never would have visited. The Benedictine monastery is located little more than one hour way...More

We had a day in Munich to visit family and decided that a trip by train to Andechs was just the place to meet. And it was, the food is great, the beer greater and the environment very social and fun. If you want to...More

We went with friends for a look round. Fantastic old church and monastery. The food is excellent in the cafe but go hungry. The portions were huge. Try the pork knuckle.

It would have been so much nicer without the unbelievable number of flies. It was hard to enjoy the food, which was just ok, and the beer, which was very good, while swatting the 1000's of flies buzzing everywhere. The pork roast was tasty enough...More

An afternoon visiting Andechs for the monastery and the views is definitely a wonderful activity. Enjoying a beer or two along with supper at Andechs will just round out an already fun experience. This is Bavaria at its best. The "beer hall" is lively and...More

Monastery beer on a high hill overlooking German fields and country homes. An idyllic place to rest, relax and explore what Bavaria is all about. Brush up on your German before ordering food or beer here; while it's a tourist spot, it is quintessentially German.

As a brewer, I have made many visits to this area with friends and family when visiting Bavaria. The history, food and beverages coming out of Andechs is superior in every way to anything we have back home in Australia. Highly recommend an English tour...More

Easy to come here from Munich (S-bahn and bus). Here is beautiful church and great views. We found little shop and brewery. In the beer house I enjoy pint of dobbelbock beer, which was good. There is also beergarden and gasthaus.

We visited Andechs Monastery on a rainy day in late August, 2017. We got there early just before noon, so we were able to wander around and get pictures without people in the background. The tower was closed, but we still got some spectacular views...More
