I tried to access the pools, having been there many times in the past. I asked at two border check points. I was not permitted access into Oman, even as a long-term expat resident of the UAE. This is really frustrating given the beauty of the pools. Until the situation changes, you will not be permitted access to the pools... More

We got to the border and were turned away when they found out our destination was Hatta Pools. Both the Hatta Hotel on the UAE side and the border officials confirmed this. So don't waste your time coming here unless you are a UAE local.

As of September, 2016 it is still closed from the UAE side. As the pools are technically in Oman, you cannot pass without a visa. They used to let people through, but not anymore.

This would be a lovely plave if it wasn't for the rubbish!! The pools are lovely and a guilty pleasure of jumping of a rock or two was too good to miss. We camped in the open overnight, we had a BBQ and slept under the stars. As mentioned the rubbish around the whole place is a complete eyesore.....visit by... More

Went camping with friends next to the pools in a nice quite location. The next morning we went for an explore and found a natural beauty in the form of the pools and the following wadi. The rock jumping was excellent with jumps ranging from 1-5ish meters into clear cool water. There is sadly a bit of rubbish left from... More

We went for the weekend border and, after checking previous reviews, went through the Al Buraimi border at Al Ain. It is a simple border crossing, but you must make sure you have an entry/exit stamp in your passport (expats) before coming back into the UAE. The Pools themselves have plenty of little camping spots surrounding them and we felt... More

When you drive over the 44 there is no access any more from Dubai to cut through a small piece of Oman to got to Hatta. You can drive around direction Kabla to get to Hatta and have lunch there in the Fort Hotel. Hatta is now a very isolated place. Even from Hatta itself access to the pools is... More
