We arrived rather late in the day, but the lovely volunteers who run the museum were happy to stay on late to show us around the museum. The building itself has a long history and it’s interesting to see evidence of how it’s been adapted over the centuries. The collection is diverse and helps bring to life the history of the town. Despite the small size of the rooms the exhibits are displayed thoughtfully with clear interpretation. The volunteers are friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. It was lovely to chat with them about items in the collection and the history of the town.

The House on Crutches is a very unusual quaint building on a hill and is worth a visit. The town also has several other old buildings such as the old "Red Lion " which has been a tavern for centuries. It also boasts a nice little tea shop / café .

Free entry!!! but you'll be happy to make a donation to the upkeep of such a unique place.
Hands on in the school room - children are encouraged to play and dress up.
Knowledgeable volunteers running the place

Loved this place, so much to see in what is essentially like a tardis. Loved the sloping floors, views of the town from the windows & the informative staff who can enhance your visit

Its free to enter and we were enchanted browsing around the wide range of items on display. A great way to learn a little about the history of the area.

A fascinating house in the middle of the town by the town hall hosting a wee museum with an eclectic mix of objects. Free entry and open on a Sunday, unlike most of Bishops Castle. Take a look!

We chanced on the Museum during the towns Michaelmas festival. The gentle man who was on duty was very knowledgeable and polite. The displays are fascinating and informative. Probably 2 small for really small children and steep steps would be a problem for the very old or infirm.

At the Monday market in the Town Hall across the road we met a lady running a fundraising stall for the museum, who explained that it's run by volunteers and currently only able to open at weekends. Sadly we had missed it but I've been in previous years and it's well worth a visit. Don't miss the terrifying mantrap which was used to catch poachers.
