Wow! Wow! Wow! We went on a Northern Lights chase with James. And had a fantastic time. OK, the Northern lights showed up and were truly spectacular. What made this experience so special however was our guide James. He provided each person in the group with a Digital SLR camera already setup to catch the northern lights. He then provided us with hints and tips on how to ensure we got the most from our pictures. We managed to take some really spectacular shots. On top of this, James brought along some terrific homemade brownies and juice/tea which just hit the spot after a couple of hours out in the cold. A truly unforgettable experience and one made even more special by James. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience !
James was exceptional, he explained us many techniques on the snowshoes, he also made us discover the nature, the fauna and the flora of Lapland. The walk was wonderful, and it is clearly more enjoyable with vintage snowshoes than with modern ones !

Last night we went for a night tour on wooden snowshoes with James from Green Trek. We loved the personal approach, were a small group and walking in the deep snow on these snowshoes was so much fun! James brought local drinks and British snacks and told us many stories about the wildlife and forest. We even got to see the Northern lights! Highly recommended trip :)

Without great expectations we booked the snowshoe hike on traditional snowshoes.

And it turned out to be a great trip. James was the perfect guide. His passion, patience and willingness to give us a great experience made it an unforgettable evening.
We hiked through the forest on snowshoes. Accompanied by the light of the full moon.
And to top it off, we even saw the northern lights.
Many thanks to James for this tour. If you are in Levi, plan a tour with him:)

The best way to describe our evening with a group of friends is a "Once in a lifetime experience".

Our guide James have excellent communication skills and is a great story teller. You will learn about many interesting things: setting up a campfire with traditional tools, finding the four cardinal directions on a sky map, facts about aurora borealis and more.

Overall this was an amazing experience.

It's difficult to put this review into words. I've typed and deleted my opening paragraph a few times because i'm trying to find the words to simply hypnotise the reader into just booking this experience, and they can thank me later.

Truth be told - we love the huskies, we love reindeer, we love to hunt for the northern lights and would happily eat our bodyweight in toasted marshmallows. But we have also started to look for something a little different when we come to Levi.

Wilderness Skills was a no-brainer. I didn't do much research if I'm honest, I spotted it in on levi.fi and booked it in. This kind of reckless behaviour sometimes gets me in a spot of bother, but not this time...

The experience was outstanding from start to finish (we were picked up at Zero Point and dropped off at our hotel. Perfect!)

James, our guide - was an absolute gentleman throughout, and as we strapped on our traditional wooden snowshoes to begin the adventure, we knew we were going to love it. By the way, these shoes are rare! and a reflection of the unique and authentic experience we were about to have.

I don't want to be too specific about the hours we spent with James - at the risk of robbing anyone of the joy i had in watching it unfold before my eyes.
I'll just say these two things - 1) The scenery took my breath away! 2) My daughter has not stopped talking about this trip since we got back!

If you want to spend a few hours doing something a bit different, learn some genuine bush craft skills, experience some amazing scenery, and enjoy the company of a genuinely knowledgeable and friendly guide - then this is for you.

James - keep a batch of bushman's coffee on a low heat for us. We'll be back in Levi one day, and will be looking for adventure...

We've spent 3 amazing hours with James hiking trough the beautiful forest of lapland. It was our first time hiking with snowshoes and we really enjoyed it.
He gave us cool facts about the forest, animals and surviving skills in the nature.
We even had a break with delicious snacks and warm beverages.

Thank you James for this wonderful hike.

James was an amazing tour guide. At first I was a little bit afraid, if I’am sporty enough to do the hike. But James was awesome and he adjusted to my speed immediately. He made some breaks between the hike and gave us a lot of interesting information about the forest, animals and finnish nature in general. He even brought cookies and some hot berry mulled for us and we took a little break on a place in the woods with the most spectacular view. Thanks so much for this wunderful experience “GreenTrek“. We loved it! If I could award 10 Points, I would!!!

We are two adults and two children (5 and 7). We booked a private evening with our guide James. We starting by helping building the fire and James was a good and patient guide, and allowed for all our questions and oversaw the children helping by adding wood to the fire. All very safe and good.

The fire was build in a rural area on a lake shore, where Greentrek has a shelter. When the fire was roaring, we roasted sausages and marshmallows.

We very lucky to have the experience on the clear night. James thought us about locating the Northern star and using that as a guiding point for spotting the famous Northern lights. For the spotting, and for improving our night vision, we went out on the frozen lake about 150meters from the shore and fire. The combination of no artificial light and the wide open space on the lake, provides for perfect conditions to see the lights.
And suddenly the sky began to change color. We saw the most amazing Northern lights for about 30min with beautiful colors ranging from deep green to pink. James took many fotos of our family with the lights as background,
With his professional equipment. The fotos were later made available to us for downloading.

Being all high on the experience we ended the evening by making pancakes over the fire. Again James had made it extra special for us, by ensuring a large variety of toppings - a great hit with our girls.

All in all an excellent experience. A very cosy and “slow-living” experience that we really appreciated as a family.

All in all an amazing experience. Our guide was so friendly, funny and informative. He really tried to create a magical memory for us. We did the evening snowshoe hike at 7pm and the darkness and peacefulness made it all the more special. Can 100% recommend. :)
