What a great place to visit! As far as you can see there are just temples and pagodas. Unfortunately most tours just visit one or two places but there are hundreds to see. Best is to visit with a private driver or self-drive to allow enough time to see places. Most tours just rush through to make it back to... More

Taken by tour guide to Sagaing Hill. It has great view that overlooks Mandalay across the Ayeyarwaddy River. The pagoda on top of hill was nice also with a line of 45 Buddhas (1 for each year Gotoma Buddha taught). Definitely worth a visit.

Great place to have the full view of Mandalay with the Ayerawaddy river and many pagodas. The pagodas here are beautiful too.

We had a taxi driver for half a day and visited Sagaing Hill, luckily he dropped as at the top as it was very hot and would have been quite a walk. The views from the top are great you can see all over the Mandalay area. Worth the trip.

The Sagaing hill is very picturesque to look at from the bridge over Ayerawaddy river, dotted with pagodas. From the hill you get lovely views of the Ayerawaddy river. The pagodas on the hill are covered in other tripadvisor attractions. We spent half a day here.

Sagaing Hill is a lush series of hills adjacent to the Irrawaddy river. The landscape is full of active temples dotting the hillsides making for a delightful view of hilly jungle with stupas dotting the scene. The temples I visited are all beautiful. Buddhist culture is so vibrant here. This is a wonderful place, full of life.

Great views of Mandalay. Of interest:1. The very tall Temple roof was being renovated by brave workers on bamboo scaffolding. 2. Largest population of Buddhist monks in the world, including very young females in pink, who were shy and innocent, but some happily gave a smile and wave.

Luckily you don't have to walk all the way up the hill since there is a good road. Impressive patriotic Buddha who fell off the truck on the way to China (therefore was sent back to Burma). Several beautiful view points. Don't miss the second attraction, the 45 Buddhas in the grotto.

In the first time when I arrived, the Pagoda was being renovated. Then I was so regret. But I just looked on another side, that was the good chance for me to see how the pagoda would have been renovated.

Sagaing Hill offered great views of the surrounding area and great photo opportunities. Not far outside of Mandalay and a must if you are in the area. I would recommend taking a car up if it is a particularly hot day. Also great to visit is the nearby Sitagu Buddhist Academy.
