We went to Mt Difficulty to do a wine tasting and have lunch. We didn't have a reservation but we were easily accommodated which was great. Lunch and service was fine - the ambience was good as there is a lovely outlook from the restaurant and lady doing the wine tasting was knowledgeable.

I thought it would pay dividends to move away from the crowded venues close to Queenstown, and a visit to Mt. Difficulty proved this out. To start, the views of the Bannockburn area are wonderful. Once we were in the Cellar Door, Greg led us through a fine tasting experience. He described the various areas from which grapes are sourced... More

This was a lovely winery and a great little trip up a hill to get to the Cellar Door (tasting room). The hosts are gracious and knowledgeable and the wines are delicious. We visited five wineries (Carrick, Mt. Difficulty, Amisfield, Peregrine and Chard Farm Winery). This combination offered a nice variety of wine varietals and tasting experiences.

You get a beautiful back drop and tasty selection of wines to accompany it. The staff were well educated on their product knowledge and friendly. We came here on the recommendation of a barmen we spoke with in the Nelson area while having lunch there and very happy we did! Still have a lot more of this amazing country to... More

Mt Difficulty Vineyard is a wonderful place to visit and taste some wines. The lovely ladies doing the wine tasting really know their stuff. We wanted to have something to eat however the restraint was full, but after talking with the staff they managed to fit us in for a platter and some fabulous wine. The platter was amazing with... Really friendly and welcoming, great selection of wines, which you can tailor to your tastes. Relaxed non stuffy atmosphere. Did not feel rushed or pressured to buy. Thank you Nicky. Incredible views across the valley. The terrace would be a gorgeous location for lunch Well worth a visit

Hi Carolyn&Lindsay, thanks for your recent visit to our tasting room. I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed that we do not have all our Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs available to taste and that this was enough to ruin your entire experience at Mt Difficulty. While it's not about bean counting, it is about bottle counting - we were... More

Went into the cellar door for tastings and found the service average. Felt as if the server was speaking down to us. We went to various vineyards that day and found other servers extremely passionate and knowledgable

The cellar door is small and nothing fancy. The staff are friendly, passionate and knowledgeable. The highlight here is the Pinot Nior, simply put they make some of the best Pinot Niors you will ever have, the wines are expensive but worth it. The cellar door unfortunately does not have the ambience that makes you want to hang around and... More
