If you are visiting this area of Onetahuti/Tonga Bay, New Zealand and would like to view Seals this is a great place to visit on a sunny day (the seals bask on the rocks). Definitely worth a visit because of the beauty along the coast.
Excellent must visit on kayak trip. We saw Orca, eagle ray, blue penguin and seals around and about on our guided 3 day tour of Abel Tasman. A real trip of a lifetime. Brilliant.
Our bus took us to a parking lot and a trail that led to the seal colony. This was a different view then seeing the seals from the catamaran. There was an overlook to see the seals, mothers and babes up close. Be sure to...More
Just great place to visit and sea seal pups up close. They came and swam with us in kayaks and played alongside us....priceless and a must do. We went with Marahau Sea Kayaks and our guide Sarah was EXCELLENT!

Paradise but the two nights we were at Onetahuti beach, saw two lots of Germans campers trying to cook up mussels off the beach. Maybe needs better signage that it is a marine reserve.
Hire a kayak and explore the shores of Tonga Island while keeping an eye on wildlife. You can spot seals and seabirds... I have seen a Reef Heron in these waters.
We went in winter and it was still wonderful weather. the water was cold, so we did a boat ride, but it was amazing scenery.
