We completed the day walk from Medlands to Anchorage using Wilson's boat to get there and back. The scenery is as good as you will see anywhere. Lovely coastal views, native trees and some wildlife (we saw many types of birds and also seals). The...More

If you love variety, lots of interaction with other walkers, and amazing seascapes and wildlife, the Abel Tasman Track is for you, very special. The DOC huts are amazing and well equipped. Take your time, there is lots to see.

We did the day walk from Totaranui to Awaroa. Fantastic walk, would recommend checking timings of water taxi off peak season, we didn't realise the last taxi was at 2.30pm and had to walk back which made for a long day (but was worth it)....More

We did a one day trek in Feb 2017 from Torrent Bay to Bark Bay and forward to the new swing bridge, booked via Wilsons, who also provided picnic lunch. The track is well maintained and well marked. It passes through lush green forests and...More

Easily walked in 3 - 4 days. Now walked it three times over the past 20 years and it still is an amazing walk. With the booking system now in force there is no rush to get to the next night stop as your bed...More

We got the aqua taxi to Anchorage beach and walked back to our campsite in Marahau. You get great views of the area from the boat, but also fantastic views back out to sea from the coast track. The signs said our walk would take...More

Completed the trail here in about 2 days. It was very busy including the campsites but amazing all the same. Timed the tidal crossings well but you still have to wade through water which I wasn't prepared for (was running and didn't want wet feet...More

This is a must-do for anyone who loves beaches, boat cruises, waterfalls, views and walking / hiking trails. There are several places along the coast where you can be dropped off by a cruise boat or water taxi (you could even kayak from one of...More

Caught a water taxi to Awaroa and over three days walked back to Sandy Bay in Mārahau. Completely surrounded my endemic and native flora and fauna the entire duration which was beautiful. The track also follows the coastline which meant you always had an amazing...More

Thanks to various water taxis, this track is easily accessible and can even be enjoyed by those with not much time to spare. Otherwise you can walk the whole track in a few days. Book early, as huts fill up fast! The walk is very...More

Hi jpkmckenn, to be honest I am not sure, however I would think the area is pretty safe regardless, you would be recommended to not leave any valuables out though. If you are getting to the start of the track with an... More

No restaurants on the track other than Awaroa. Every beach is fabulous though my favourite is Te Pukatea. Aim to do walks of around 3 hours. Sea kayaking is a good option.
