We stayed at Peppers, Awaroa, caught the water taxi to Medlands Bay on a beautiful sunny day & walked back (approx 8.8 Kms). You can do it the other way round if you book the water taxi to collect you but that puts you under pressure to get to the pick-up spot on time, much more pleasant if you can... More

We visited the park via water taxi. The taxi had approximately 6 stops. We exited at the last stop and ventured off for a hike. We had a three hour window before the taxi returned to pick us up. It was a fabulous day! The walk was like a tropical forest that ended us up at an isolated beach! Couldn't... More

Can walk all or parts of this track, easily accessible also by boat. Huts along the way are nice to stay in. Gets busy.

I've been here 3 times over a 15 year period and cannot recommend it enough. It's definitely worth going out of your way to visit Abel Tasman and walk the coast track. I'm not the world's fittest person, but I do like good walk and this one is not too strenuous, winding its way along the coast, sometimes down to... More

We just completed this track from Marahau to Totaranui, in 3 days, during the Waiting weekend. We chose to finish at Totaranui as that's the further point for water taxi, and were told by the lady at the Totaranui Tourist Office that we didn't miss much (a seal colony and more golden sand beaches). We arrived at Marahua mid-day and... More

We didn't do all the track. One day we did a two hours walk, go and return, from the beginning at Marahau Beach. Anotehr day we did a 4 hours walk. We took a water taxi to one beach and walk to Anchorage. al the beaches are perfect, the track is not very difficult but in some places it is... More

We started from the south end of the park and hiked in a couple hours for a nice day trip. Easy walking with lots of hikers and a few through hikers. We got to the first campsite which was nice but not great. The best parts of the trail were the many views, spring flowers and easy access to the... More

After spending many days in the car doing a lot of driving it was wonderful to come out here and stretch the legs for a while. We did a 1 hour walk which was a little up and down but would suit most fitness levels. You can go on a 3-5 day hike if you want to. The path is... More

Walked just a bit fo this as part of a 3-day kayaking/camping trip, but loved what we did experience. The track is so well-maintained, takes you to spectacular viewpoints and along gorgeous beaches, the campsites are clean, well-equipped, staffed by rangers/wardens, and have FLUSHING, clean toilets! Would love to hike up to the top of Abel Tasman some day.

It was good to get out and move around, and the trail was beautiful coming out to beach views here and there, and the ocean, and... Lots of uphill, downhill - if you're not used to that sort of thing.
